My Layouts by Dave Bentley

The three layouts described below are each work in progress, in the case of the Heatherburn Garden Railway this work is a never ending contest with nature!

Heatherburn Garden Railway

The Heatherburn Garden Railway was originally planned as a small single track loop around the back garden but when I started digging to lay the concrete foundations I decided that I may as well have two tracks. The layout has come a long way since then and the rest of the story can be followed on our forum.

Trumptonshire

This N gauge layout measures 10' x 6' and was my main modelling interest before I was drawn to the dark side of 00 outdoors! Trumptonshire is effectivly two separate layouts built on different levels. The first is a four track main line that forms a continuous loop and serves the station of Chigley. The second part is an out and back run from a terminus based on Euston and called Trumpton.

Trumpton and Chigley are connected via a branch line that calls at Camberwick Green where there is also an international railway museum and steam railway.

More pictures can be seen in my Fotopic gallery.

Potters Lane

This layout is part of the Your Model Railway forum's modular layout which is being built to a similar specification as the Cheshire Railway Modellers modules but with double track through running and 4" between table and track levels. When planning Potters Lane I threw away the text books and came up with a brand new design incorporating new materials and techniques, full details and many more pictures can be seen on this link to the CRM forum.

This layout will eventually be available for exhibitions but there is still a lot of work to do.

The layout owner is based in Co.Durham, please use this link to contact him with any enquiries.
